Kate Simon

About me

I have been a journalist for almost 40 years, working on national newspapers and magazines. I joined the team at The Independent on Sunday in 1997 and held the position of Travel Editor from 2005 to 2012. In 2012, I co-founded content and PR agency Traveltappers with fellow journalist Simone Kane.

Our goal was to offer an insider’s perspective on PR and create top-quality content. After Simone decided to retrain as an English teacher in 2021, I ran Traveltappers alone, supported by strategic partners. In 2023, I decided to focus purely on writing and editing content for my clients.

Alongside my client work, I write travel books. Past publications include How To Pack For Any Trip (Lonely Planet, 2016) and Slow Travel Cheshire (Bradt, 2018). I’m currently writing a book on beer and travel in the UK with drinks writer Phil Mellows, based on our blog British Beer Breaks.
