What makes an Ultimate Guide? Great ideas and quality story-telling

There’s lots to do in Chester and Cheshire throughout the year and to help locals and visitors make the most of it all Visit Cheshire publishes a quarterly ‘Ultimate Guide’, distributing 30,000 free copies across the county. So we were proud to be invited to write, commission and edit this 36-page magazine in spring 2019.

Our brief is to create compelling editorial content that champions the best experiences and activities the county has to offer, new and established, and there has been plenty to work with. We’ve told the story of the world-leading role played by Cheshire observatory Jodrell Bank and celebrated its award as a Unesco World Heritage Site. We’ve eagerly anticipated new attractions including children’s outdoor play adventure, BeWILDerwood Cheshire. We’ve championed the best of Cheshire’s food and drink and the places to try and buy it. And that’s just a taste of what we’ve covered.

As well as coming up with ideas about entertaining content to fill the pages, we’ve written many of the pieces, too. Plus we’ve employed the help of leading travel writers who live in this beautiful county, with features and reviews by David Atkinson (Guardian), Helen Warwick (National Geographic Traveller), and Suzanne King (Telegraph, Grazia).
